WHAT IS LED?

The LED is a semiconductor emitting light at the flow of electric current thanks to  a special silicon packing. Among the advantages of the LED, which has no internal wire, contrary to the traditional bulbs, there are an extraordinary energy saving, long durable, absolute security( LED operates at 24 volts). The choice of Torraca makes this little town in the district of Salerno one of the world leading centres in using renewable energy.

The LED light points installed in town are 700.

Numerous regional newspapers and magazines have given attention to this project and Torraca has won several prizes in big international exhibitions about ecology and environment.

One last curiosity: LED light avoids light pollution which is an obstacle to watch stars from the town centres.

BENEFITS

The installation gets a saving of about 70% of the energy consumption, reducing costs of 70%, by avoiding light pollution and by solving security problems since it operates at 24 volts. Every thing is being monitorizing and under certification of Prof.Di Fraia from the University Federico II of Napoli, one of the most expert in lighting technologies.
